2013 Ma Cherie Petite Sirah
Varietals were sourced from Hearthstone Vineyard.
Grown in a typical lime stone vineyard in Adelaida District close to Tablas Creek. Grapes were picked by hand at the Hearthstone Vineyard in Paso Robles and the fruit was trucked by Sebastien early morning on October 9th.
After a 24-hour cold soak, the fermentation was going native, so we inoculated the must with a Rhone yeast. The juice went to Hungarian oak barrels on October 25th where it was aged for 14 months. Hungarian barrels are perfect for mid body reds, we caught the wine at its peak with no excessive oaking!
Very smooth and fruity, lighter than an overly ripe Petite Sirah, due to the young age of the vineyard.
