Awesome harvest for 2013, well underway! Abundance of excellent fruit is promising some great wines. Evenings cooled off a bit earlier than expected, slowing down harvest, a good thing so it isn’t happening all at once!
Rousanne has been picked, pressed and pumped from press to oak barrels. Marsanne grapes were harvested in Monterey County on a cool summer night, Sunday September 22nd, and the juice fermenting in oak barrels. Look for a creamy velvety marsanne next spring.
Syrah from Kiler Canyon Vineyard was picked last week was pressed Monday 9/23. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Starr Ranch were picked last week and are being punched down 2-3 times per day by hand. Beautifully dense fruit makes that a challenging workout!
